Mount Teide

Rising dramatically from the center of the island is the often snow-capped emblem of Tenerife: the colossal Mount Teide. The soaring peak is Spain's highest mountain and is visible can be seen from practically everywhere on the island.

Its diverse environs compose the Canary Islands' largest national park, where you can find hundreds of species of trees, flowers, birds, insects and other creatures, including autochthonous Tenerife species like Mount Teide violets, an endangered species of wildflowers, and the lagarto tizon, a stone-colored lizard.

So get ready to explore lush forests, winding hiking trails, funky volcanic rock formations and Tenerife's brilliant collection of native tropical flora and fauna!

When you sign up for a Spanish course in Tenerife, you can take advantage of the diverse weekend activities in Tenerife that our staff organize. One of our favorites is a one- or two-day guided visit to Mount Teide!
